Pristine Allergy Free Bedding
Dust
mite allergy is one of the most common allergies we suffer from. Some
of the most common symptoms are stuffy, runny nose, teary eyes, dry
cough, even aches and headaches. Many people suffer from it without
even realizing it. If you tend to wake in the morning congested, there
is a good chance you may suffer from dust mite allergies as well. Dust
mites can be found in all households and will live in carpets, fabric
upholstered furniture, curtains and most of all in beds. Dust mites
feed mainly on shed human skin and your bed is their favorite place
because of the high humidity generated by the sweat from the body and
the skin particles. Mattresses, box springs, bed pillows and even
comforters are breeding ground for dust mites.
Air permeability is a key component to comfort and
satisfaction. If the material you sleep on cannot breathe, the
moisture exerted from your body will have no outlet. You will become
uncomfortable, feeling clammy, sweaty and hot. A cotton sheet alone is
perhaps the most breathable fabric however it has no protection from
dust mite and other allergens. The Pristine and the Taskmaster cotton
encasings offer you the best of both worlds… the comfort of a cotton
sheet PLUS the barrier protection you need!

How
can you tell the difference between a cold and allergies?
While
both can present similar symptoms, it is important to tell the
difference since they are usually treated with different medications.
** A runny
nose from a cold will start off being clear then turns yellow or green
after a few days while people with allergies will continue to have
just a clear runny nose.
** A person with a cold will
usually improve in 10-14 days while allergy symptoms might linger
through the whole season until the first frost.
** A cold sufferer may also
exhibit a fever and muscle aches.
** An allergy sufferer’ symptoms
change depending on the weather; windy days increase pollen count,
rainy days will decrease ragweed levels.
** A cold sufferer will usually
infect other family members or co-workers.
** Same recurring symptoms, same
time every year.
** An allergy sufferer often has
dark circles under the eyes (allergy shiners). He/She might also have
a small crease near the bottom of their nose (nasal crease) from
pushing their nose up because it is itchy. Inside their nose, the
mucosa will often be pale and swollen, while it usually appears red
and inflamed with a cold.
An allergy
sufferer will treat with antihistamines, nasal steroids and nasal
wash.
A cold sufferer will treat will decongestants, cough suppressants, and
possibly antibiotics.
